Red Charm

Red favourite

Red Charm is undoubtedly the best known and most popular red peony available. It’s also one of the earliest available double-flowered varieties of the season. The round flowers have a perfect shape and can grow to be as large as 22 cm. This peony variety has a vase life of about a week. This may seem somewhat short in comparison to lot of other varieties, but it gives this peony a certain uniqueness and…charm. Short-lived, but powerful: that’s Red Charm!

Early bloomer

Red Charm is a hybrid, full-petalled peony with flowers that grow into the shape of a ball. This variety blooms very early in peony season and is one of the earliest available double-flowered peonies. The stems often remain short, but are thick and strong.

This peony variety was bred in 1944 by Glasscock, also known for Old Faithful and Red Grace, the main competitors of Red Charm. It was awarded a gold medal by the American Peony Society in 1956.

Red Charm is a fantastic peony that blooms explosively. It tends to shed some of its petals after blooming. Put a small rug under your vase so you can clean up more easily.
