Paul Vernooy established his peony nursery in 1987 while still working full-time. Wise move! Within five years, his company became so successful he quit his job.
A professional nursery
Paul started out on one and a half hectares of land that he quickly outgrew. Paul asked his brother Ben to join him and in 2006 they moved their nursery to De Zilk. It was a rough year; Paul passed away that same year. His wife Rian took over the nursery and together with Ben built the company into what it is today: a professional nursery with over twenty years of experience in the cultivation of hostas and peonies. Peonies are getting ever more popular, so their importance to Vernooy is rising.
Specialization
Vernooy is ready for the future. They are specialized in creating starting material which ensures them of peonies of the highest quality. Their love of peonies shines through everything they do. In addition to starting material and flowers, Vernooy also sells peonies in pots, a new and fast-growing market.
The assortment
The assortment consists of over fifty beautiful varieties and Vernooy is planning to expand the range in the near future. Together with Harry van Dongen, Vernooy is always searching the world for the most beautiful varieties. The more exclusive varieties are sold through My Peony Society, the regular ones (partially) through auction.
